About Us
About Pride in Gloucestershire
Pride in Gloucestershire stands as a beacon of celebration and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community across our county. Through events like our annual Pride celebration, we strive to connect, uplift, and inspire. Our mission is to combat homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia while pushing for continual progress, acceptance, and inclusivity.
We are a registered charity in England and Wales - № 1185201
Driven by our passion for equality and diversity, we envision a society where all LGBTQ+ individuals can realise their full potential. We endeavour to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, providing resources, education, and entertainment in a nurturing environment.
Our Initiatives
Pride in Gloucestershire organises a wide range of events and initiatives across the county, designed to foster community, celebrate diversity, and provide safe spaces for connection, learning, and support.
Annual Pride Events
Our main event, the annual Pride Day in Gloucester Park, brings together thousands of people for a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ identity and culture. In addition to Gloucester, we host a Pride Picnic in the Park event in Cheltenham, creating another space for community gathering and celebration. Our commitment to inclusivity reaches beyond these urban centres. Each year, we bring Pride to rural areas with outreach events in Cirencester, Cinderford, and Tewkesbury. These county-wide events are crucial for connecting with potentially isolated LGBTQ+ individuals, breaking down barriers, and building a stronger, more inclusive community.
Socials and Community Events
In addition to our Pride celebrations, we host a variety of social and community events throughout the year. These events offer safe and welcoming spaces where community members can connect, make friends, and enjoy shared experiences. Our annual Pride Hub is a highlight, operating as a pop-up space during Pride Week. This hub hosts a range of community-focused events, from workshops and talks to social gatherings, all aimed at bringing people together and strengthening our support network.
Dedicated Community Networks
We also support specific communities within the LGBTQ+ spectrum through dedicated networks. Trans in Gloucestershire provides a supportive environment and advocacy for trans individuals, helping to amplify their voices and address specific needs. For the kink community, K&F in Gloucestershire creates a safe and understanding space for connection and education, fostering inclusivity within this often-marginalised group.
GLIDE – Our Employers Network
To create a more inclusive environment in workplaces, we’ve established GLIDE (Gloucestershire LGBTQ+ Inclusive Development for Employers), our employers' network. GLIDE brings together local businesses and organisations committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion, providing resources, support, and networking opportunities that empower employers to build inclusive work environments across Gloucestershire.
Through these initiatives, Pride in Gloucestershire continually strives to make a positive impact, creating spaces where everyone in our LGBTQ+ community can feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
The Trustees of Pride in Gloucestershire
The Trustees of Pride in Gloucestershire play a vital role in guiding and overseeing the charity's work. Elected by our members, our trustees are committed to championing our mission, supporting the LGBTQ+ community, and fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. They bring a wealth of experience and dedication, ensuring that we not only meet our goals but also uphold the highest standards of accountability, legality, and impact.
